Opera Lafayette: Rameau's Les Fêtes de l'Hymen

  • Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center New York, NY (map)

Opera Lafayette opens its 20th season with the modern staged premiere of Les Fêtes de l'Hymen et de l'Amour, ou Les Dieux d'Égypte, the last of Rameau’s large-scale opéras-ballets to be revived and performed in recent times. Join an international cast on a mythical journey from conflict to unity though expressions of eternal love. Three critically acclaimed dance companies – representing Egyptians, Amazons, and Gods of the Nile – weave this romantic tale into seven magnificent ballets, complementing the musicality of cast and chorus. Grace and movement are prevalent throughout the evening, as each act is directed by one of the production’s three contributing choreographers: Catherine Turocy of the New York Baroque Dance Company, Anuradha Nehru of Kalanidhi Dance, and Seán Curran of the Seán Curran Company.
