Les Délices regulars Scott Metcalfe (vielle & gothic harp) and Debra Nagy (recorders & douçaines) share a love for late-medieval music. Together with two singers from the acclaimed Boston ensemble Blue Heron, they’ll bring gorgeous, little-known songs from late-fourteenth century France and Italy to Northeast Ohio audiences. Unprecedented freedom of thought, fearless exploration of rhythmic complexity, and a desire to explore the limits of what is possible are central to this avant-garde repertory (dubbed Ars Subtilior, or More Subtle Art),whose beguiling music will delight and inspire.
